In an interview, she tells us about her passion for cosplay.
Please check it out!!

OOTV:
Please tell us your cosplay name, where you mainly work and why are you here today?
Shizuki:
I usually cosplay in Osaka, Shiga and Kyoto. I’m so nervous because this is my first time being interviewed, but I’ll try my best.

OOTV:
What made you interested in becoming a cosplayer?

Shizuki:
The main reason was to make friends but then, I got hooked on music from animes, and comics, it all became so interesting to me.

OOTV:
How long have you been cosplaying? What was your first cosplay character?

Shizuki:
I had refrained from doing cosplay for a while but I have only been cosplaying for ten years, including that time.
The character of “The Prince of Tennis” which was very popular then was the first cosplay I did.

OOTV:
Which was the most memorable character within your cosplay career and why?

Shizuki:
Ren is a special character for me. I tried to cosplay Ren, because I usually never do that kind of makeup or wear flashy clothes.

OOTV:
Do you make your cosplay costumes by hand?

Shizuki:
I mainly buy ready-made costumes on the Internet. It really depends on the costumes, whether I’ll alter it or make it. Someday I hope to make it from scratch.

OOTV:
Are you satisfied with the ready-made costumes available?

Shizuki:
Yes. To tell the truth, there are good costumes and bad costumes. I’m usually not quite satisfied with the inexpensive ones, so I alter it, but I spend money to make it what I want. There are a lot of great ones if you want to spend the money.

OOTV:
Do you want to make your own costume by hand in the future?

Shizuki:
Of course I do. Now I don’t have enough space, but in the future I want to make costumes of my favorite character.

OOTV:
What is most important thing someone should know if they want to get involved in cosplay?

Shizuki:
Having some interest in beauty maintenance is the most important thing. I need to take care of my appearance, like my skin or figure, because being a cosplayer means taking pictures and being seen by many people. It’s necessary for me. In addition to that, it’s a place where I can communicate with others, make many friends, and not be shy.

OOTV:
Which characters do you want to cosplay in the future?
Shizuki:
I want to try many characters, but the one that I have the most emotional attachment to in anime, is the costume of Sheryl Nome of Northern Cross from Macross Frontier. It’s so beautiful and I want to wear it before I retire.

OOTV:
What are your cosplay plans for the future?

Shizuki:
Now I’m doing small jobs, but I want to do something big, like this, if I had a chance.

OOTV:
What does cosplay mean to you?

Shizuki:
Um, that’s deep. I think it’s a place in which we can freely express ourselves. So it’s good for people who get shy easily to talk about their interests such as anime or game with cosplay.

OOTV:
What is the good thing for you to get involved in cosplay?

Shizuki:
I really want to say take a chance. Maybe you think it’s difficult to do cosplay, but cosplayers are open and willing to accept you. You should try to what you want, don’t hesitate.

OOTV:
How was the shoot today?

Shizuki:
I was really nervous. Extremely. I never had a shoot one-on-one with a photographer. I was worried about the shoot and sweated a lot, my makeup was ruined, but I was satisfied overall because I could do what I want. Thank you.

OOTV:
Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Shizuki:
Amongst the growing media attention towards cosplay, I’m so happy to provide information on it, like this, through this shoot. Additionally, I really appreciate the opportunity you gave me today. I hope others watch this and gain an interest in anime, games and cosplay.
When cosplay becomes more acceptable to the world, I will be so glad. I will try hard to make it so.
Thank you so much.
